In Chapter 3 Malcolm goes to Boston with his half-sister Ella and he is confused how the people live in the city. He couldn't keep up with pace of the city and the style of what the city is.
He found out about "Hill Negroes" where the African American had to live on the bottom of Roxboury Hill because that was the cheapest houses to live in.
He went looking for a job and wnet to the pool hall where he meet a guy named Shorty where he took MAlcolm under his wing and gave him things to to make money. He also guided him on how to get stuff done.
he works at the Roseland state ballroom tending to the mens restroom selling condoms ect.
learns that most of the income comes from selling alcohol and weed as a go between black pimps
